ORIGAMI

ABOUT ORIGAMI

Origami is a Japanese word, which means 'paper folding'. It was first practiced almost a thousand years ago at the Imperial Court of Japan, where it was considered an amusing and elegant way of passing time. Over the centuries, the skill was passed on to the ordinary people, who took it up with enthusiasm and made it into a folk art.

Origami is still used in Japan as a teaching and learning tool, and this charming and expensive activity has now become immensely popular worldwide.

Even though origami is as simply folding a piece of paper, here are a few guidelines to help make the process more enjoyable and satisfying.

First, choose your paper carefully. You can buy origami paper from art and craft stores or you can try using different kinds of paper. Second, check your paper is exactly square.

Third, when making folding, it helps to ook ahead to the next step to see how the fold will loo after it has been made. Last, make your creases on a firm, flat surface.

Today we will show you how to make an origami crab.
